  • A Blessed Christmas - A homeschooling family created this thematic unit about the symbols of Christmas to emphasize the true meaning of the holiday. Material can easily be incorporated into the home or adapted for a classroom environment. See also Names of Jesus and Good Christian Men Rejoice, other Christmas units created by the same family.
  • A Christmas Carol - An unabridged, illustrated version of Charles Dickens' classic work A Christmas Carol is available online. You may want to save this one to read offline, but don't let the holidays pass without enjoying this timeless classic by one of the world's greatest authors.
  • A Christmas Prayer - Take time to visit this page and read the short, yet eloquent, Christmas prayer of Peter Marshall. The late husband of Christian author Catherine Marshall (author of Christy and A Man Called Peter), Marshall wrote this prayer while serving as chaplain of the U.S. Senate.
  • Christmas Cookie Recipes - Move into the kitchen to create more than a dozen favorite holiday cookies; some use basic ingredients available anywhere.
  • Christmas in Cyberspace: A Christian Perspective - This site is the one exception to my "no-links-to-links-pages" policy. While this site is a jump station, it provides a valuable service to the internet community by cataloging and organizing sites related to the true meaning of Christmas--the birthday of Jesus Christ, our Savior.
  • Christmas Music and Christmas Stories - In this open forum, visitors can reflect upon the true meaning of Christmas as they read traditional Christmas songs mean to others. They can also share their own stories and interpretations. This is a great resource for upper intermediate and advanced ESL/EFL students.
  • Christmas Songs - This page provides complete lyrics for about 25 Christmas carols.
  • The Gift of the Magi - This classic short story by O. Henry beautifully illustrates how giving is naturally born of love.
Note: This story is best read while sipping hot chocolate and sitting in front of a roaring fire!
  • Good Christian Men Rejoice - This unit, created by a home schooling family, takes an in-depth look at the history and significance of fifteen popular carols. See also Names of Jesus and A Blessed Christmas, other Christmas units created by the same family.
  • Happy Holidays - Offers more coloring pages, craft ideas, holiday recipes, and explanations of various customs related to Christmas.
  • Jesus is Born Activities - Part of the Perpetual Preschool web site, this page provides simple songs, games, art activities, and other resources for celebrating Jesus' birth with young children.
  • The Legend of the Candy Cane
  • The Significance of the Candy Cane - Ever wonder how the candy cane came to be associated with Christmas? These sites might answer your questions.
  • Nativity Stained Glass Window - Part of the 5Geokids web site, this is a printable activity page. Follow the simple directions provided on the page to create a Christmas window decoration.
  • Names of Jesus - Created by the same family that designed A Blessed Christmas and Good Christian Men Rejoice, this thematic Christmas unit examines the names of Jesus.
  • MIDI Files of Christmas Carols (Multi-lingual) - A WONDERFUL resource for ESL/EFL students and teachers, this site features words to about thirty Christmas hymns and carols. All songs are available in English and Japanese. Most are also available in Korean--a feature that put this site at the top of my must-include list. A few are also available in German and French.
  • The Real St. Nick - We've all heard the modern day myths about the little old man in a red suit. who "shakes when he laughs like a bowl full of jelly." But who was St. Nick, and how did he ever become a part of Christmas tradition? This article, written by Dr. Ralph Wilson, sheds a little light on the mystery.
  • Silent Night, Holy Night - Unrelated to the popular carol, this site relates a precious story of a child who understood that Christmas was about giving--not getting. Be prepared, though. This one may bring tears to your eyes!
  • The True Story of Silent Night - Want to learn more of the history of this Christmas favorite? Visit this site. Information on the first page is somewhat limited. For more of the story, be sure to click on the "next" button at the bottom of the page. Continue following the "next" links for the full story behind this beloved carol, as well as a photographic tour of the Austrian towns where the song originated.
  • 'Twas the Night Before Jesus Came - Been naughty or nice? Worried that Santa might leave you a lump of coal this year? Check out this new twist on the beloved "T'was The Night Before Christmas" story, and see what happens when Jesus shows up instead of Santa!
